CHARLESTON, SC – Both Jacksonville State tennis teams dropped matches on Monday in Charleston as the JSU men's team fell to College of Charleston, 5-2, and the Jax State women were ousted by Charleston Southern, 6-1.
In the men's match with the Cougars, the Gamecocks took the early advantage after claiming the doubles point. The Red and White duo of
Brian Kenyon and
Gustavo Holz topped CofC's pairing of Lukas Koncilila and Kyle Parker, 8-6. At the No. 2 doubles spot, JSU's tandem of
Nenad Marcec and
Axel Sundberg turned back Tom Delme and Stephen Hardy of CofC, 8-5.
JSU's
Igor Santos notched the lone singles win for Jax State as he claimed a three-set match after dropping the opening set to Parker, 6-4.
In the women's duel with CSU, the Buccaneers made quick work of JSU as it started off with a win in doubles before clinching the match before the Gamecocks's garnered their lone point at No. 4. JSU's
Juliana Renesto was victorious over CSU's Heather Isbell, 6-2, 6-4.
The JSU men will take on The Citadel on Tuesday, March 15 to wrap up the trip in the Palmetto State. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
