Gamecocks Softball Game at Alabama State Cancelled

MONTGOMERY – The Jacksonville State softball team's game at Alabama State on Wednesday afternoon has been cancelled because of the threat of severe weather across Alabama this afternoon and evening.

The Gamecocks and Hornets were originally scheduled to play at 6 p.m. today but moved the game time to 4 p.m. in an attempt to dodge the threat of severe weather this evening. As Wednesday morning progressed, the forecast suggested a line of severe storms moving across the area would make travel unsafe and forced the cancellation of the game. It will not be made up this season.

JSU, in second place in the Ohio Valley Conference standings with just six games to play, will be in action this weekend in a crucial series with first-place Eastern Illinois in Charleston, Ill. The Panthers lead the Gamecocks by two games in the standings and will host them for three games starting with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday. The series will wrap up with a single game at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
