
Jax State Tennis Wraps Up ITA/USTA Regionals

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State men's and women's teams participated in the ITA/USTA Regionals this past weekend at Auburn and at Alabama.
The Gamecock men traveled to Tuscaloosa for the weekend as a pair of doubles pairing highlighted the weekend at UA, while the Jax State women made the trip to Auburn as a pair of individuals advanced to the quarterfinals of the B Draw.
The men's duo of senior Pedro Wagner and freshman Rafael Lowande moved to the round of 32 in the main draw after taking down Will Huyton and Arthur Libaud of the University of Louisiana, 8-6, in the opening round. The JSU tandem lost to Samford's team of Jake Faundez and Justin Ghavami, 8-5, following the win in the first round.
JSU's pairing of Austin McCormick and Jaryd Reese earned an opening-round bye before falling to Vaughn Hunter and Lucas Sanchez of Mississippi State, 8-6. The Gamecock duo of Mathias Chaim and Vinicio Hadlich battled the second-seeded pairing of Korey Lovett and Mazen Osama from Alabama, 8-6.
In singles action, Wagner ousted Robert Mounger of Ole Miss in the opening round in straight sets – 6-1, 6-2. He dropped a tough 7-6(6), 6-4 decision to South Alabama's Olivier Gingras in the second round.
In Auburn, the JSU team of Courtney Conley and Genevie Ulanday topped Louisiana Tech's pairing of Haley Ballinger and Alba Pemy, 8-5, in the first round of the B Doubles Draw. The duo of Isabella Calves and Nathallie Hedblom dropped an 8-3 decision to Tech's team of Manoela Chiacchio and Taly Merker. JSU's team of Diana Merceta and Sadey St. Amant competed in the A Double Draw.
JSU will close out the Fall slate on Oct-23-25 at the Big Easy Classic in New Orleans, Louisiana.
