Men's Box | Women's Box

CLARKSVILLE – The defending Ohio Valley Conference Men's Tennis Champions will defend their title next weekend in Nashville after the Jacksonville State men's tennis team posted a clutch 4-3 win over Austin Peay on Friday.'

The Gamecock women's squad also kept its hopes alive for a berth in the postseason event with a 4-3 win over the Govs of APSU.
The men entered the final weekend of the regular season needing at least one win to secure a spot in the six-team field and the Gamecocks wasted little time on the weekend with the come-from-behind win over the Govs, who were looking to clinch a at least a share of the regular season crown.  JSU moves on to Saturday's match with Murray State with a 10-11 overall mark and 5-3 in OVC play.
The women, who moved to 7-12 overall and 4-4 in the conference, will need a win over the Racers on Saturday to aid in its bid for a tournament berth.

After taking the doubles point with wins at No.1 and 2 doubles, the Govs took a 3-1 lead after wins at No. 1 and 3.  JSU's Jefferson Wendler-Filho lost at the top spot after dropping the first set 7-6(1) to Dimitar Ristovski.  Ristovski was awarded the win during the second set after Wendler-Filho was disqualified for his third code violation.

APSU's Aaron Jumonville turned back Jax State's Mathias Chaim 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 for the third point of the match.

With the Govs looking to clinch the match, the Gamecocks posted a rally the rest of the way with four straight points.  Sophomore Dylan Gee remained perfect in OVC play after setting down Aleksas Tverijonas 6-4, 6-3.  Junior Pedro Wagner and Gabriel Pansera tallied key wins to equalize the match.  Wagner quick worked Iago Seffrin 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4, while Pansera topped Aleh Drobysh 6-2, 6-3.
The match came down to No. 5 with Jaryd Reese battling Manuel Montenegro.  After Montenegro grabbed the first set 6-3, Reese regrouped in the second set with a 6-4 win to force a third-and-deciding set.  Reese posted a 7-5 win in the set to clinch the match for Jax State in its first match after JSU Head Coach Steve Bailey announced his retirement on Thursday.

In the women's match, Jax State carded the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and 3.  The duo of Claudia Marsala and Zoe Bizonos dispatched APSU's pairing of Hannah Tatlock and Jovana Karac, 8-1.  Sadey St. Amant and Danielle Kerindi sealed the doubles point with an 8-5 win over Brittney Covington and Isabela Jovanovic.

St. Amant and Kerindi turned in a perfect day with wins at No. 5 and 6.  St. Amant moved to 6-1 in the league after downing Karac 6-2, 6-4.  Kerindi topped Jovanovic 6-0, 6-4 at No. 5.

Freshman Genevie Ulanday won in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 over Tatlock at No. 2.
