
Gamecock Men Blank Murray State; Earns No. 4 Seed in OVC Tourney

2015 OVC Men's & Women's Tennis Championship Bracket
MURRAY, Ky. – The Jacksonville State men's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 4-0 win over Murray State on Saturday as the win also clinched the No. 4 seed in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament next weekend.
The Jax State women narrowly fell short of making the league's postseason field after dropping a 7-0 decision to the Racers, who won the regular season for the second consecutive year. The women's squad finishes the 2015 season at 7-13 overall and 4-6 in OVC play.
The Gamecocks enter the 2015 OVC Men's Tennis Championship after completing the regular season at 11-11 overall and 6-3 against OVC foes. The Gamecocks will face No. 5 seed Belmont on Friday, April 17 against No. 4 seed Belmont at the Centennial Sportsplex. Match time is set for 2 p.m. The JSU-Belmont opening round match will be a rematch of last season's OVC Championship match. The Bruins claimed the regular season duel, 5-2, back on March 28 in Jacksonville.
JSU started the match by taking the doubles point. The Gamecocks' tandem of Pedro Wagner and Jefferson Wendler-Filho cruised past MSU's duo of Max McLean and David Hess, 8-2. JSU's team of Mathias Chaim and Dylan Gee dispatched the Racers' pairing of Aleks Mitric and Anjan Kashtab, 8-1, at No. 3.
Chaim tallied another Gamecock point after disposing of MSU's Srdjan Trosic 6-3, 6-0. Sophomore Jaryed Reese, who clinched JSU's win at Austin Peay on Friday, carded another solid win with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Mitric. Senior Felipe Wenzel closed out the scoring with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Kashyab.
In the women's match, the Racers quickly jumped on the scoreboard with the win at doubles. MSU continued its dominance in the match by taking all six singles matches. Senior Danielle Kerindi pushed Erin Patton to a third-and-final set at No. 5 before falling in the third set. Kerindi won the first set 6-4, but dropped the next two – 6-0, 10-7.
Sophomore Sadey St. Amant dropped just her second OVC match of the season as she fell at No. 6 to Verginie Tchakarova.
