BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – After leading the Jacksonville State men's tennis team to a pair of key Ohio Valley Conference wins over the weekend, sophomore
Dylan Gee has been tabbed the OVC Men's Tennis Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Gee moved to 6-0 on the year in the OVC with a pair of wins at the No. 2 spot in the singles lineup. After losing the opening set to SIUE's Marten Jonsson, 6-4, Gee bounced back to win a second set tiebreaker to force a third and deciding set. He went on to top Jonsson, 6-3. Gee won in straight sets over Eastern Illinois', 6-4, 6-3.
The London, England-native also won two doubles matches as he teamed up with
Mathias Chaim for a pair of doubles wins. The duo ousted SIUE's pairing of Patrick Gaffigan and Matthew Hutchinson on Friday, 8-5 and dispatched EIU's tandem of Grant and Trent Reiman, 8-6, on Satirday.
Gee, an All-OVC Second Team member as a freshman, enters the final weekend of the regular season with a 13-1 singles mark against league foes.
The Gamecocks will travel to Austin Peay and Murray State over the weekend to close out the regular season.
