JACKSONVILLE -- The Jacksonville State men's basketball team takes on Tennessee State at Pete Mathews Coliseum on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. It is the second half of a weekend doubleheader with the women's basketball team. The women take on Tennessee State's women's team at 2 p.m. the same day.
As part of the Saturday twin bill, a special halftime performance is also planned for both the men's and women's games. Magical act Quick Change, from television's "America's Got Talent," was voted the No. 1 halftime act in the NBA, and they are bringing their talents to Mathews Coliseum!
The game is the second of two on the season between the two programs. The Gamecocks claimed the first meeting 86-79 in Nashville. The victory over the Tigers was the first ever OVC win claimed inside the Gentry Center by Jacksonville State. Prior to the Jan. 21 contest, JSU had won just one game on TSU's home turf in a non-conferene matchup.
Jacksonville State and Tennessee State go into the contest neck-and-neck in the OVC East standings. The Gamecocks sit third in the division with a 7-5 OVC mark, while the Tigers are an even 6-6 in fourth place. And only nine spots separate TSU and JSU in the NCAA's latest RPI rankings at 159 and 168, respectively.
