MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Jacksonville State men's tennis team earned back-to-back wins at the Alabama State Invitational on Saturday, earning victories over both Alabama State and Alabama A&M.

The Gamecocks downed home-team Alabama State 4-2 in the 11 a.m. match and followed up later with a 6-0 shutout of Alabama A&M in the 3 p.m. match.

The Hornets took two points in the first match, earning the doubles point and taking a win at No. 3, but the Gamecocks dominated singles play to earn the 4-2 victory over ASU.
Pablo Caffarena,
Guillermo Agost, Sergio Lizarraga and
Andres Gomez accounted for all four of JSU's points against Alabama State, while
Joaquin Vallejo dropped his decision at No. 3 against Thomas Fernandez in consecutive sets.
Aljaz Kaplja's matchup with Ion Efrim went unfinished.

JSU followed up with a 4-0 win over Alabama A&M to sweep the day's matches. The Gamecocks won all three doubles sets to claim the first point of the day and took all three singles matches that were allowed to finish.
Kaplja dominated Nishangan Nadaraja 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1, while Vallejo claimed a win at No. 3.
Marc Roura finished up Jacksonville State scoring with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Armando Gray at No. 6.

The Gamecocks wrap up the Alabama State Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 18 with a 10 a.m. rematch with Alabama A&M. JSU returns home Feb. 24 to take on Lipscomb at the JSU Tennis Courts at 10 a.m.
