
Women's Tennis Remains Undefeated with Saturday Wins

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Jacksonville State women's tennis team improved to 5-0 Saturday with wins over both Alabama State and Alabama A&M at the Alabama State Invitational.
The Gamecocks downed home-team Alabama State 4-1 in the 11 a.m. match and followed up later with a 4-0 shutout of Alabama A&M in the 3 p.m. match.
The team of Genevie Ulanday/Elena Tendero and Alba Conejero/Malin Buechner picked up the doubles point with consecutive sets against the Hornets, while Tendero, Diana Monsalve and Marin Alberteau each tallied singles points. Two matches went unfinished, while Alessia Locati fell 6-1, 6-1 to Alabama State's Chloe Kabamba.
The 4-0 blanking of Alabama A&M came thanks to singles wins from Buechner, Katrina Kreslina and Jhovana Brena. Before sweeping each of the finished singles matches, the teams of Conejero/Locati and Monsalve/Alberteau secured the doubles point.
The Gamecocks wrap up the Alabama State Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 18 with a 10 a.m. rematch with Alabama A&M. JSU returns home Feb. 20 to take on Kennesaw State at the JSU Tennis Courts at noon.
