
Gamecocks Tangle with Tech Thursday at OVC Tournament

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Jacksonville State men's basketball team is set to take on Tennessee Tech in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Valley Conference Championships on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Ford Center in Evansville, Ind.
Thursday's contest is the first for the Gamecocks (20-11, 11-7 OVC) in the 2018 OVC Tournament, while Tennessee Tech () earned a 60-51 win over SIUE in the first round to advance in the bracket. Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech have never met in the postseason.
The Gamecocks are entering their sixth OVC Tournament and looking to improve their record in the quarterfinals to 2-1. JSU picked up its first quarterfinals win last season, defeating Southeast Missouri 74-51 to earn a spot in the semifinals. Jacksonville State owns a 5-4 record in the OVC Tournament, picking up three wins on its way to the 2017 conference title.
JSU goes into the 2018 OVC Tournament as the No. 4 seed, tying its program-best seeding as an OVC affiliate. JSU was the fourth-best in 2006 OVC Championships where it picked up its first postseason win as a member of the Ohio Valley. The Gamecocks were named the No. 4 seed again in the 2017 Championships, going on to wins their first DI title in program history.
Senior Malcolm Drumwright and junior Jason Burnell were named All-Ohio Valley Conference on Feb. 27, as announced by the league office. Drumwright was tabbed Second Team All-OVC for the second year in a row, and Burnell was named to the All-Newcomer Team. Drumwright is now a two-time All-OVC selection, named to the second team last year, while Burnell picked up his first All-OVC honor.

JSU students can purchase tickets on-site at the Ford Center at the Jacksonville State team table for $5. Students must present a student ID to receive the discount and only cash will be accepted.
