For just the second time in JSU's Division I history, the Gamecocks are competing in a national postseason tournament. Ray Harper, in his first season at the helm last year, led Jacksonville State to its first OVC Tournament title and appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
With the March 14 win over Canisius in the first round of the SBI in Buffalo, N.Y., the Gamecocks pushed their Division I record for most wins in a single season to 22. The previous record for wins in a Division I season by a JSU team was set in 2002-03 by then-head coach Mike LaPlante at 20 and later tied by Ray Harper in 2016-17. The school record for wins in a single season is 31, posted in 1984-85 under legendary head coach Bill Jones. JSU was 31-1 that season, going on to win the Division II National Championship.
