TROY – Junior Kaylee Frear's 19 kills and sophomore Jade Humphrey's career-high 17 digs led the way for the Jacksonville State volleyball team that rolled late in its 3-1 win over Florida A&M on Friday afternoon.

Frear finished the day hitting a staggering .586 after 29 attacks, while Kaylie Milton (.435) and Mackenzie Rombach (.357) also posted high hitting marks as JSU (7-4) powered past FAMU for its fourth consecutive victory.

Milton followed up her strong hitting clip with a career-high 10 kills to go along with 10 digs in her first double-double of the season. Just behind Milton, Ashley Clingan recorded nine digs and Dani Steele upped six as FAMU hit just .138. Sophomore Lexie Libs collected 45 assists as Rombach, Lena Kindermann and Sadie Anderson all tallied seven kills.

Rombach began things early in the first with back-to-back kills before teaming up on a block with Kindermann as JSU extended its lead to 9-5, forcing the first FAMU timeout. The Gamecocks led by as many as six, 12-6, before the Rattlers tried for a late comeback by cutting the deficit to two, 18-16. Steele made a solid service pass that Libs dumped over the net for the point as JSU regained momentum down the stretch. After FAMU called its final timeout down 20-17, JSU finished on a 5-2 run to take the first.

The Rattlers bounced back quickly in the second opening up a 9-2 lead to begin the next frame. Trailing 12-4, JSU was forced to take a timeout, which sparked a surge that cut the margin to 15-11, but FAMU maintained control of the set continuing on for a 25-16 win.

Jax State answered its shortcomings in the second with a monster third frame that saw the Gamecocks hit .383 as a team en route to a dominating 25-13 victory. Frear became the first Gamecock to reach double digit kills as she had 13 on a .550 attacking percentage after three stanzas.

In the fourth, JSU put the match away quickly building a 10-4 lead on its way to a 25-11 route of the Rattlers.

Jax State returns to Trojan Arena on Saturday for a pair of tough matches against Kennesaw State at 1 p.m., and host Troy at 4:30. Live stats will be available for both matches, with the Troy contest also streaming on Facebook Live.
