
JSU Hoops: Jacksonville State vs. Evansville on Monday

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State men's basketball team continues its three-game homestand on Monday, Dec. 16 against Evansville at 7:30 p.m.
Monday is "Christmas with the Gamecocks" at Pete Mathews Coliseum. Fifty lucky boys and girls will go home with Christmas presents courtesy of county commissioner Lee Patterson. Children will receive a ticket upon entrance and numbers will be drawn for gifts at each media timeout until halftime. At halftime, 10 bicycles will be given away.
The game will be available online through ESPN+ on WatchESPN. Visit espn.com/watch or download the ESPN app to view the game on a computer or mobile device.
Fans can also listen to "The Voice" of the Gamecocks, Mike Parris, on the Gamecock Radio Network and online. Parris is entering his 37th season on the mic for Jacksonville State basketball.

- Monday's contest against Evansville is just the second meeting between the two programs. Jacksonville State topped the Purple Aces 55-50 on Dec. 15, 2018 at the Ford Center. This is the first visit to Pete Mathews Coliseum for UE.
- Jacksonville State is coming off a 60-55 loss to Troy at Pete Mathews Coliseum on Dec. 11. Kayne Henry led the Gamecocks' scoring effort with 14 points.
- JSU ranks 34th in the NCAA for fewest fouls committed and 59th for fewest personal fouls per game. The Gamecocks have committed just 137 fouls this season.
- Senior Jacara Cross currently ranks eighth in the OVC and 241st in the NCAA for offensive rebounds per game. The forward is averaging 2.22 offensive boards per contest through eight games. He leads the Gamecocks with 20.
- The Gamecocks currently rank 172nd in the NCAA and fifth in the OVC in 3-point percentage, hitting 33.5 percent of shots taken from beyond the arc. Last season, JSU shot 31.5 from 3-point range, ranking 312th in the nation and 11th (of 12 teams) in the OVC. They also rank 135th in the nation for 3-pointers made per game with 7.8.
- Mark Ray Harper's 70th win as the Gamecocks head coach, making him the fastest JSU head coach to reach 70 Division I victories.
- Give the Gamecocks their second home win of the season.
- Snap a four-game losing streak.
- Be Jacksonville State's second win over Evansville in two games.
- The Purple Aces are riding a five-game winning streak. It is the longest in head coach Walter McCarty's tenure.
- Evansville's visit to Jacksonville is just the third trip to Alabama for the Purple Aces in program history. UE has visited South Alabama on two occasions, most recently in 1987.
- The Aces are coming off a 72-62 win at Green Bay, led by 22 points from sophomore forward DeAndre Williams.
- Williams was named both the MVC Player and Newcomer of the Week on 12/9; he posted 29 PPG and 9.5 RPG in wins over Western Illinois and Miami of Ohio.
- On Nov. 12, the Aces scored a 67-64, upset-win over No. 1 Kentucky at Rupp Arena.
