
JSU Hoops: Jacksonville State at George Mason tonight

FAIRFAX, Va. – The Jacksonville State men's basketball team wraps up a seven-night, three-game road swing tonight with a 6 p.m. matchup tonight at George Mason.

Fans can also listen to "The Voice" of the Gamecocks, Mike Parris, on the Gamecock Radio Network and online. Parris is entering his 37th season on the mic for Jacksonville State basketball.
Tuesday's matchup with the Patriots represents the first between the two programs. George Mason is the fifth first-time opponent for the Gamecocks this season.
JSU is coming off a tight 63-60 loss to Chattanooga in the championship round of the Emerald Coast Classic, falling to the Mocs Saturday in Niceville, Fla.
Next on the schedule for Jacksonville State is a trip to Huntsville, Ala., Dec. 7 to take on Alabama A&M at 6 p.m.

Tipoff Tidbits
- George Mason is the second A10 opponent of the season for JSU (at VCU on Nov. 17) and the third with Ray Harper is head coach. Harper led the Gamecocks to a 94-61 win at Richmond on Nov. 13, 2017.
- Tonight's matchup with George Mason marks the third game in five days, and the seventh consecutive night on the road for the Gamecocks. It signals the end to the longest road trip of the season for JSU.
- Following the Nov. 29 win over Chicago State in the semifinal round of the Emerald Coast Classic in Niceville, Fla., the Gamecocks fell 63-60 to Chattanooga in the title matchup.
- Derek St. Hilaire was named to the Emerald Coast Classic All-Tournament Team following the tournament, scoring 26 points in two games in the Sunshine State.
- Mark Ray Harper's 70th win as the Gamecocks head coach, making him the fastest JSU head coach to reach 70 Division I victories.
- Give the Gamecocks their first win in the series against the Patriots.
- Give the Gamecocks their second win over an A10 team under Harper.
- George Mason is 8-1 for the first time since 1983-84. The Patriots began the year 5-0 for the first time in school history, before falling to now #3 Maryland on Nov. 22.
- The Patriots are back in Virginia after winning the Cayman Islands Classic title this past week, highlighted by a 68-64 triumph over KenPom top-100 team New Mexico State in the title game and a 19-point win (85-66) over Power 5 foe Nebraska in the semifinals.
- In the win over NMSU, Mason erased a 12-point halftime deficit (35-23) and was +16 (45-29) in the second half. The Patriots limited the Aggies to 34.4 percent in the final stanza and shot a sizzling 55.6 percent (15-27) on the offensive end.
- Sophomore Jamal Hartwell II led Mason with 17 points vs. NMSU, 13 of which came in the second half. He's averaging 20.0 points and shooting 44.4 percent from 3 over the past two games.
