Men's tennis earns sixth win of season Saturday at Alabama State

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Jacksonville State men's tennis team improved to 6-0 Saturday with a 6-1 win over Alabama State.
The Gamecocks (6-0) routed out the Hornets (2-7) at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center to tie its best start in the last 10 years – a 7-0 start in 2009.
"I am really happy with how our team played today," head coach Andres Amores said. "Our guys played really well, and I am happy to see them off to a 7-0 start. I think that is a great accomplishment."
The Gamecocks claimed the doubles point and went on to take five of the six singles competitions. In doubles, Guillermo Agost and Jordi Blanchar improved to 3-0, while Joaquin Vallejo and Alexander Vishnevskiy improved their season mark to 5-0.
Sergio Lizarraga improved to 3-0 for the season with a two-set singles win over Juan Rodriguez, and Vallejo earned a 6-1 win in both sets over Carl-Louis Luckmann at No. 2 singles.
The Gamecocks are back in action Wednesday against UNA at noon at the JSU Tennsi Courts.
