Gamecocks nearing single-season wins record
Last season, JSU won 23 games; the most wins in a single Division I season in school history. With four games left in the regular season, the Gamecocks have 19 wins under their belts. One more win will ensure the first three-peat for 20 wins in a single season since the 1989-90, 1990-91 and 1991-92 seasons at the Division II level.
Gamecocks look to extend winning streak over Morehead State
Jacksonville State has won four consecutive games over Morehead State, dating back to a 70-61 road win Feb. 25, 2017. Four in a row is the third-longest winning streak over a conference opponent behind seven against Southeast Missouri and six against Tennessee State.
Burnell scores second 30-point game of season, career
Senior forward Jason Burnell tallied 30 points against Tennessee State on Feb. 16, hitting a career-high 10 field goals and 9-of-9 from the free-throw line. It is his second 30-point game of the season after scoring 30 on Jan. 17 against Belmont. He is the first Gamecock to register multiple 30-point games in a career since Tarvin Gaines scored 30 vs. Alabama State in 2011 and 31 at Morehead State in 2013, and the first to turn in multiple 30-point games in a season since Trent Eager during the 2003-04 season.
Hunter pockets first double-double
Senior guard Marlon Hunter scored his first career double-double Feb. 9 at Southeast Missouri with 27 points and 12 rebounds during the 81-64 win over the Redhawks. Both numbers were career-bests for the Panama City, Fla., native. His previous high in points scored was 26 at West Virginia on Dec. 22, and his previous high in rebounds was seven.
