Women's tennis defeats North Alabama 5-2 Wednesday

FLORENCE, Ala. – The Jacksonville State women's tennis team earned a 5-2 win over in-state rival North Alabama on the road Wednesday.
The Gamecocks (5-1) earned the doubles point in three sets and outscored the Lions (2-7) 4-2 in singles action to claim their fifth -straight win.
Harriet Hamilton and Cristina Moll Alles began the scoring with a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles over Sydney Flesch and Nina Linke. UNA's Megan Humphreys and Lee-Taylor Bishop evened the doubles score with a 6-3 victory over Malin Buechner and Alba Conejero, but Balsen Kaya and Marine Alberteau secured the point with a 6-2 win at No. 3.
Leading 1-0, Kaya scored the first singles point with a two-set win at No. 4. She downed Bishop 6-3, 6-2 before Kalais Going got UNA on the board with a two-set win over Alessia Locati at No. 5.
The Lions' only other win came at No. 2 as Flesch topped Buechner in three sets (6-2, 1-6, 7-6), but it was the final point of the day for the home team.
Moll Alles improved to 5-0 at No. 1 with a straight-sets win over Payton Andrews, and Hamilton remained undefeated at No. 3 in a three-set victory over Linke. Conejero wrapped up the match in three sets over Humphreys (4-6, 7-5, 6-4).
The Gamecocks return home on Thursday, Feb. 27 for the first time in five matches to host Alabama State. The match is set for 1:30 p.m. at the JSU Tennis Courts.
