Game Notes: Jacksonville State | Elon
ELON, N.C. – Fresh off its return from The Bahamas, the Jacksonville State men's basketball team is set to face Elon in a first-ever meeting on Saturday.
The Gamecocks (2-3) will match up against a member of the Colonial Athletic Association for the second-straight game, following a 72-64 win over Drexel on Wednesday. The Phoenix (2-4), enter the contest on a three-game slide after a tough lineup in the Charleston Classic with games against West Virginia, Ole Miss and Temple.
Senior Darian Adams continues to pace the Gamecock offense with 15 points per game. He is the only Gamecock to reach double digits in all five contests to date. Junior Demaree King, the offensive star during the Baha Mar tournament, has improved his scoring average to double figures off the bench with three-straight games of 10-or-more, including 16 in Wednesday's win over Drexel.
Along with Adams and King, Brandon Huffman and Jalen Gibbs also reach double figures in JSU's last game while Kayne Henry led the way on the boards. The Gamecocks will look to carry the momentum it finished with in the second half against Drexel which included a 43-point second half on 59-percent shooting.
The game takes place at Elon's Schar Center that recently opened in 2018. Game time is 1 p.m. eastern/noon central and streams on FloHoops, which is a partner to the CAA. Mike Parris will have the call courtside on the Gamecock Sports Network.
A win over the Phoenix would be consecutive victories for JSU for the first time this season and even the team's record at 3-3 before returning home for a matchup with South Alabama the following Saturday on Dec. 4.
