Game Notes: Jacksonville State
JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State men's basketball team will be at home twice this week at Pete Mathews Coliseum, beginning with a Monday night matchup with LaGrange College.
The Gamecocks (3-5) return home from a road loss at VCU last Wednesday, and will aim to turn things back around inside the friendly confines of The Pete. JSU will host LaGrange at 6 p.m. on Monday, before welcoming Florida International on Wednesday evening.
LaGrange heads to JSU from just down the road where the fell at Birmingham Southern on Sunday afternoon to fall to 4-5 on the season. The matchup, though not a common one, brings some history with it as the two programs meet for the first time in nearly half a century. The visiting Panthers actually lead the all-time series, 4-3, in the seven meetings that took place between 1964 and 1973.
After being held to a season-low 52 points last week, the Gamecocks look to bounce back on Monday led by scoring leaders Darian Adams, Jalen Gibbs and Brandon Huffman.
Monday's game will stream on ESPN+ and broadcast over the air on the Gamecock Sports Network. All JSU students and fans ages 18 and under receive free admission.
Following LaGrange, Jax State will turn right back around to welcome a new set of Panthers to town in FIU. The Dec. 15 contest will also tip at 6 p.m.
