JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State men's tennis team blanked future conference foe North Alabama 7-0 Wednesday at the JSU Tennis Courts.
 
The Gamecocks (3-1) held the Lions (0-6) to just two singles set victories and a set win in doubles action.
 
Jax State won the doubles point with Thomas Norwood and Aljaz Kaplja winning 6-4 at No. 1 and Joaquin Vallejo and Maj Tomac winning their set 6-3 at No. 3.
 
Jordi Blanchar got the singles scoring underway with a win at No. 6 over Tim Heslin, and Tomas followed up with a quick win in straight sets over Andreas Hansen at No. 4.
 
Kaplja downed Jamie Bixby 6-3 in back-to-back sets at No. 3, and Norwood added Jax State's fifth point with a close three-set win at No. 5. The junior won 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 over UNA's Kyle Johnson.
 
Guillermo Agost earned the win at No. 2 over Guilherme Diniz, and Vallejo wrapped up the matched with a three-set win over Carlos Matarredona.
 
Jacksonville State returns to actions Sunday, Feb. 21 with a 2 p.m. home match against Nicholls State.
