
Gamecock Men finish Ninth at The National Intercollegiate

GREENSBORO, Ga. – The Jacksonville State men's golf team finished ninth at The National Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
The Gamecocks shot a final round 296 on the par-72, 6,955-yard Reynolds Lake Oconee National Course, capping a 54-hole score of 883. UT Martin won the 13-team event with a 9-under 855.
Senior Quim Vidal Mora led JSU in the three-day event, tying for ninth in the 75-player field with a 54-hole score of 216. He finished his tournament with an even-par 216 to finish in the top 10. Vidal Mora turned in rounds of 73-68-85 and made a total of 12 birdies during the tournament.
Senior Jesus Dario Montenegro had his best round of the event on Tuesday, when his 2-under 70 allowed him to climb 22 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 24th. He finished the tournament with a 5-over score of 221, thanks in large part to 11 birdies over three days.
Juniors Jackson Singletary and Patricio Freundt-Thurne tied for 40th with 54-hole scores of 225. Singletary shot a final-round 74, while Freundt-Thurne capped his tournament with a 77. Junior Maximo Portais rounded out the JSU lineup with a 228 after a final-round 80 on Tuesday.
UT Martin's Nick Wolf and Troy's Bernt Hamm tied for medalist honors.
The Gamecocks wrap up the regular season on April 12-13 at the Middle Tennessee Stone River Invitational in Murfreesboro, Tenn., and will then play the OVC Championship on April 25-27 in Muscle Shoals at the Fighting Joe on The Shoals.
