Men’s Golf Looks to Carry Momentum to Squire Creek

JACKSONVILLE—Following a third-place finish at UAB's GMAC Invitational which featured a co-medalist, Jax State's men's golf team heads to the Argent Financial Classic at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, La.
The Gamecocks are among 13 teams competing at the 7,105 yard, Par 72 course. Teams will play 54 holes over three days starting Sunday. Squire Creek ranks as the No. 1 golf course in the state of Louisiana and has played host to the 2005 WAC Championship, 2019 US Open Qualifier, and the 2021 Louisiana State Amateur.
Will Drake was the co-champion last week at Inverness Country Club helping Jax State take bronze in the tournament as a team. The Gamecocks were one-over for 54 holes with a total of 841 following an even-par 280 during Sunday's first round and posted 279 on Monday during Round 2.
Drake posted rounds of four-under, two-under, and three-under. Tuesday's round was highlighted by a 30-foot uphill birdie putt on 17 to move back into the lead. His birdie putt on 18 for the outright win came up just short.
Benn Shedd has averaged a seventh-place finish so far this season and leads the team in scoring average at 69.33. The junior has averaged 67.5 in the first round and 69.5 in the second round this season.
Cole Lindeman will be first on the course at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, followed by Joshua Gardner, Raphael Turcaud, Shedd and Drake in 10 minute intervals.
Jax State opened the 2025-26 season at Squire Creek last year and took seventh, and were 13th in coach Sylas Elliott's first tournament as head coach.
