KENNESAW, Ga. – The Jacksonville State men's golf team will wrap up its fall schedule this week, when the Gamecocks compete in the Kennesaw State Pinetree Intercollegiate.
The Gamecocks will play 54 holes over two days on the par-72, 7,108-yard Pinetree Country Club and will be looking to finish their four-tournament fall schedule on a high note.
Jax State opened the fall season in late September with a win at the Golfweek Fall Challenge and will look to finish strong and carry momentum into the spring season. The Gamecocks have had success in the Pinetree Intercollegiate before, winning the event in 2019 and finishing third last season. They've played in each of the last seven editions of the event and have finished in the top five in five of them.
The Gamecocks will be one of 11 teams competing in the Pinetree Intercollegiate this week. They will join host and ASUN Conference foe KSU, as well as future Conference USA opponent Western Kentucky. Also in the field are Mercer, Francis Marion, Georgia State, Tennessee Tech, Belmont, New Orleans, UT Martin and Bradley.
Junior
Erik Jansson will lead the Gamecocks in their final fall event, playing from the No. 1 spot in the lineup. The Vasteras, Sweden, native has a team-best 72.89 scoring average so far this fall and has a pair of Top-10 finishes in three events. He tied for seventh in the Golfweek Fall Challenge and recently tied for fourth in the Georgia State Invitational.
Senior
Ross Napier will play in the No. 2 position for JSU, while sophomore
Ryley Heath will be in the No. 3 spot. Sophomores
Santiago Bailleres and
Gabriel Restrepo will round out the Gamecocks' lineup this week.
Jax State is paired with UNO and WKU on Monday and will begin play on the 10
th hole. Restrepo will hit the first shot of the tournament for the Gamecocks.
