Jax State Finishes Fall Slate at Steve Baras Invite

JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State men's tennis will conclude the fall portion of their 2022-23 schedule this weekend on the road. The Gamecocks will travel north to Chattanooga, Tenn., for the Steve Baras Invite this Friday through Sunday.
Jax State enters the invitational following a strong showing at the ITA Southern Regionals in Tuscaloosa. The doubles team of Vanja Dobrnjac and Lucius Soller advanced to the Round of 16 at that prestigious event while Agustin Cuellar and Alejandro Beneyto Sanchez made it to the Round of 32. On the singles side, Cuellar narrowly lost to an SEC opponent in the Round of 32 after landing in the main draw.
JSU's men will face quality Division I opposition from programs across the southeast. Other teams competing this weekend include Chattanooga, Mercer, Tennessee State, Troy, and UAB, as well as ASUN foes Lipscomb and North Alabama.
Only the men's team will be in action this weekend. Jacksonville State's women's tennis squad will wrap up their fall slate in next weekend's Stetson Fall Invite, which will be held Nov. 4-6 in DeLand, Fla.
