JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State fans have one more chance to catch the Gamecocks in non-conference action this season when JSU hosts Georgia Southwestern at Pete Mathews Coliseum Tuesday evening.
Â
Jax State (6-6) welcomes the Hurricanes of Georgia Southwestern (4-5) to The Pete for a 6 p.m. tip-off December 27 to round out the non-conference portion of the schedule. The Gamecocks are coming off a narrow 71-66 setback at South Alabama last Wednesday, but could secure the same the same non-conference marks as last season's NCAA Tournament team with a victory on Tuesday. The Hurricanes, already two games into their Peach Belt Conference slate, returns to action for the first time since Dec. 12.
Â
JSU's Skyelar Potter and Demaree King continue to lead the Gamecocks offensively averaging 15.1 and 14.8 points, respectively. Amanze Ngumezi has also averaged double figures when he's been able to make the lineup outside of nursing a foot injury. A team leader in rebounds, and now fourth in scoring, junior Juwan Perdue enters Tuesday's contest off a career performance in Mobile last week where he posted a career-best 20 points and finished one board shy of his third double-double.
Â
The Gamecocks and Hurricanes have officially never met in the regular season, however, the two did open last season with a preseason exhibition that went the way of JSU by a score of 82-63. The Gamecocks are a perfect 4-0 at home to start the season, looking for a fifth-straight home win to open year for the first time since winning their first seven to begin the 2018-19 campaign.
Â
Tuesday's contest will be carried on ESPN+ with live stats and audio links available at JSUGamecocksports.com.
