Bailleres Cards Second-Straight 70 To Lead JSU At ASUN

ATHENS, Ga. – Jacksonville State freshman Santiago Bailleres fired his second 70 in as many days on Monday and sits in fifth with one round to play at the 2022 ASUN Men's Golf Championship.
 
The true freshman from Carrientes, Argentina, turned in a 1-under 70 on the par-71, 7,258-yard University of Georgia Golf Course in the second round and sits fifth in the 63-player field with a 36-hole score of 140.
 
The Gamecocks carded a team score of 290 in the second round, two shots better than their opening round 292 and are in sixth in the 12-team event with one day left. No. 39 North Florida leads the field and is 10 shots better than second-place Lipscomb, who is one shot ahead of No. 36 Liberty.
 
UNF's Robbie Higgins holds a one-shot lead on the individual leaderboard at 136 (-6), while North Alabama's Carter Goodwin is second at 5-under. UNF's Nick Gabrelcik and Lipscomb's Will Hogan are one shot ahead of Bailleres in a tie for third.
 
Bailleres made four birdies for the second day in a row and played the back nine at 1-under on Monday. He is second in the field in par-4 scoring, playing the UGA Course's par-four holes at 4-under so far.
 
JSU senior Maximo Portais and sophomore Erik Jansson are tied for 13th with one round remaining. Portais, a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, carded a second-round 72 on Monday, while Vasteras, Sweden, native Jansson shot a second-round 73. Both players hold a 36-hole score of 145 (+3).
 
Senior Jackson Singletary is tied for 39th with one round left in his collegiate career. The Alabaster, Ala., native holds a score of 152 after 36 holes and shot a 75 on Monday. 
 
Freshman Karsten Bryan made his ASUN Tournament debut on Monday and birdied his first hole with a chip in. The Golden, Miss., native turned in a 79 in Monday's round.
 
The Gamecocks are paired with Florida Gulf Coast and Jacksonville for Tuesday's final round and will send their first player off of the first hole at 8 a.m. ET. Live scoring can be found at www.GolfStat.com.
