JSU Suffers Narrow 4-3 loss to Kennesaw State on the road

Box Score JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State men's tennis team suffered another narrow defeat,4-3, Friday afternoon to the ASUN leading Kennesaw State Owls.

JSU (7-8, 2-4) fell behind to Kennesaw State (13-5, 5-1) after doubles play and won only three singles matches to finish one point behind the Owls. This is the third consecutive 4-3 loss for the Gamecocks in conference play. JSU continues to hold a sixth-place position despite the loss as just two conference matches remain. Kennesaw State continues to hold a tie for first in the league standings.

In doubles play, Kennesaw State earned wins in the third and first flights to take the doubles point.

Jordi Blanchar quickly evened the match 1-1 after winning 6-3, 6-1, in the sixth flight. Following Blanchar's ninth win of the season, the Owls defeated the Gamecocks in the third, first and second flights, respectively, to clinch the match. JSU added wins in the remaining matches as Vicente Arbelaez recorded a 6-3, 2-6, 10-6 win in the fourth flight and Vanja Dobrnjac won 7-5, 6-2, in the fifth.

Up next, JSU will continue the road trip Sunday, April 10, against No. 72 Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers, Fla., at 9 a.m.
