GLENCOE, Ala. – The Jacksonville State men's golf team wrapped up its second tournament of the 2022-23 season on Tuesday with an 11
th-place finish in the UAB Graeme McDowell Invitational at Silver Lakes.
Playing in windy conditions on a 7,525-yard layout at Silver Lakes on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, the Gamecocks carded rounds of 310-307-318 to shoot 935 over the 54-hole event. They finished just behind Lamar, who rounded out the Top 10.
Junior
Erik Jansson led the Gamecocks in the 72-player field, finishing 34
th after a final-round 76 capped his 54-hole score of 232 and lifted the Vasteras, Sweden, native eight spots up the leaderboard in the final round. He opened play with a 75 on Monday morning before turning in an afternoon 81.
Sophomore
Ryley Heath tied for 54
th with a 239 after rounds of 79-74-86, while sophomore
Karsten Bryan and senior
Ross Napier tied for 60
th with a 54-hole total of 240. Bryan turned in rounds of 83-79-78, while Napier signed for scores of 81-73-86. Redshirt sophomore
Gabriel Restrepo tied for 63
rd after rounds of 75-89-78 =gave him a total of 242.
Redshirt freshman
Ricardo Matho competed as an individual for the Gamecocks and tied for 54
th after rounds of 77-83-79 gave him a total score of 239.
Jax State will return to the links on Monday, when they begin play in the Georgia State Invitational at Berkeley Hills Golf Course in Duluth, Ga.
