MADISON, Wis. – Jax State is set to battle the No. 23 team in the nation Thursday evening when the Gamecocks visit Wisconsin for a 6 p.m. tip-off on Big Ten Network.
The Gamecocks (4-6) and Badgers (7-3) have never met on the hardwood. It will mark Jax State's seventh game against a B1G opponent. The last time the Gamecocks traveled to The Badger State was December of 2006 when they visited Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Jax State aims to turn around a short two-game skids with tight losses to East Tennessee State and UIC by a combined seven points. On the flip side, the Badgers are winners of six of their last seven, most recently falling at No. 1 Arizona on Saturday. Prior to that, UW knocked off nationally-ranked Virginia (24), Marquette (3) and Michigan State during a six-game stretch.
KyKy Tandy (17.4 points per game) and Quincy Clark (10.1) lead the Gamecock offense entering the contest, while UW brings a trio of double-digit scorers led by AJ Storr's 13.8 point average. The Gamecocks bring the 15th-best scoring defense into the marquee matchup, allowing just 61.1 points oer game. Another strong defensive performance will likely be needed in one of the tougher road environments in all of college basketball.
Mike Hall and Brian Butch will call the action on the Big Ten Network, which is a partner of Fox Sports. Television channel and streaming information can be found here. Jax State Hall of Famer Mike Parris will call the radio play-by-play action over the Gamecock Sports Network.
Thursday's game is the first of a three-state swing for Jax State prior to the Christmas break. The Gamecocks make stops in Texas and Arkansas before hosting Fort Valley State on December 28.
