Gamecocks open outdoor slate at Auburn's Tiger Track Classic

JACKSONVILLE – Jax State is set to open the outdoor portion of its 2023 schedule on Friday with the first day of the Tiger Track Classic at Auburn University.

New head coach Jeremy Provence and assistant Stephen Sousa will have JSU's full roster available as the first outdoor meet signals the return of the javelin event. Freshman thrower Lydia Seals will make her debut, along with fellow freshmen like Sambre Hofmann, Lennon Ibsen and Elsa Chan who had strong showings during the indoor season.

Ibsen (pole Vault) and Chan (distance) already placed their names in JSU's record books, joining senior Ashton Coats who's done the same in her career with the hurdles. Coats, one of four seniors, is scheduled to compete in both the 100-meter dash as well as her standard 100-meter hurdles.

In addition to host Auburn, Ole Miss and Florida State will highlight the field as Power Five programs. The Gamecocks will also see future Conference USA foes, Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee State.

Live results are available at JSUGamecockSports.com, and final scores and recaps will be posted shortly after the conclusion of the two-day competition.
