KENNESAW, Ga. – Jacksonville State track and field wrapped up a lighter weekend at the Kennesaw State Invitational on Friday in a weekend trimmed down to one day due to inclement weather.
On a day where several Gamecocks posted new personal bests, freshman
Lennon Ibsen also turned in a winning mark in the pole vault competition. Ibsen's 3.60-meter height matched the high mark to tie for first, while
Savannah Yates and
Kayley Stanley's 3.45-meter vaults were good for fourth as JSU scored half of the top six spots.
Meanwhile, freshman
Siobhan Balle also earned a podium in the 400-meter hurdles with a third-place finish in 1:08.49 setting a personal best of her own. In the 100-meter hurdles, senior
Ashton Coats scored sixth with a time of 14.84, and also led all Gamecocks in the 200 meters.
Just behind Coats in the 200,
Breanna Becerra set the first of two new personal records with a 25.59 mark in the 200. Becerra also turned in a new standard in the 400 with a ninth-place spot in 57.65. Continuing with top times,
Sambre Hofmann jumped 4.80 meters for a new PR in the long jump on Friday.
Also in the field,
Lydia Seals narrowly missed her second-straight top-three finish in fourth for the javelin throw with a distance of 36.66 meters.
JSU heads to Birmingham next weekend for the Samford Invitational in the first of two final regular season meets before the Gamecocks head to Jacksonville, Fla., for the 2023 ASUN Outdoor Championships.
