Jax State Scores Seven ITA Academic Awards

JACKSONVILLE – Gamecock women's tennis came away with numerous awards on Monday when the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its 2023 Division I Academic Awards. The program overall was named an All-Academic Team while six performers took home Scholar-Athlete accolades.

Sophomores Kennedi Jones, Romane Mosse, and Ella Tuomela and freshmen Irene Artigas, Polina Ramenskaja, and Serafima Shastova earned Scholar-Athlete honors after a strong season on the courts and in the classroom. Impressive efforts academically by the entire team led Jax State to a 3.59 team grade point average in the Spring 2023 semester, guiding the program to All-Academic Team status.

Division I women's tennis programs earn All-Academic Team awards if they have a team GPA of 3.2 or higher. To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 for the entire academic year.

After spending two years as a member of the ASUN Conference, Jacksonville State men's tennis is set to embark upon Conference USA beginning in the 2023-24 campaign. The Gamecocks will be part of an extremely tough league competing against foes such as Liberty, Middle Tennessee State, and New Mexico State.
