Erik Jansson turned in three rounds under par to lead the Jacksonville State men's golf team to a fifth-place finish in UAB's G-Mac Invitational this week.
Jansson, Jax State's senior leader from Vasteras, Sweden, shot rounds of 67-71-70 on the par-72 layout at Limestone Springs. His 8-under 208 tied him for fourth in the 84-player field and led he Gamecocks to a fifth-place finish out of 14 teams.
Jansson made just four bogeys in the 54-hole tournament and used his best round of the tournament to spark his performance. He recorded six birdies in Sunday's opening round. Over the three-day tournament, he played the back nine at Limestone Springs a combined 7-under par.
He was one of two Jax State players under par in Tuesday's final round. Fellow senior
Isaac MacNaughton signed for a 1-under 71 to cap an impressive rally for the Truro, Nova Scotia, native.
He finished the tournament at 1-under and tied for 16
th but had to work to get there after an opening round 77 on Sunday. MacNaughton used six birdies in Monday's second round to shoot 67 and answered that round with a final-round 71 that got him to his 54-hole score of 215.

Gabriel Restrepo struggled in his final round after two rounds under par that started his tournament. The Caracas, Venezuela, native tied for 25
th with a 1-over 217 for the tournament. He stormed out of the gates with an opening round 71 and then a 4-under 68 in Monday's second round but couldn't avoid a few tough holes on Tuesday to shoot 77.

Santiago Bailleres tied for 60
th with a 54-hole score of 224 in the tournament. The native of Chascomus, Argentina, opened play with a Sunday 76 and then shot back-to-back rounds of 74 over the next two days.

Benjamin Boquete tied for 74
th in his first tournament as a Gamecock after transferring from Christian Brothers in the offseason. The Hurlingham, Buenos Aires, Argentina turned in rounds of 75-80-75 to shoot 230, the same score as teammate
David Melichar. The redshirt freshman from the Czech Republic competed as an individual and shot rounds of 78-75-77.
The Gamecocks' next tournament will be Monday and Tuesday in the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate, hosted by Arkansas State at RidgePoint Country Club in Jonesboro, Ark.
