KENNESAW, Ga. – Jax State volleyball hits the road Friday and Saturday to face CUSA rival Kennesaw State. The match Friday is set for a 6 p.m. central first-serve, and Saturday's match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. central first-serve.
The Gamecocks are coming off a 1-1 weekend at home against Missouri State on Oct. 10 and 11. On Oct. 10, Jax State rallied from a 2-0 deficit to reverse sweep the Bears by a score 3-2. Missouri State downed Jax State on Oct. 11 by a score of 3-1. Jax State is 9-9 and 3-3 in CUSA play.
Plenty of Gamecocks played well against Missouri State, most notably freshman setter
Charlee Solomon. Solomon had 100 total assists on 11.1 assists per set. She also added 20 digs on 2.22 per set, 11 kills, and nine service aces. On Oct. 10, Solomon posted career-highs in assists with 56 and aces with five. Solomon notched 44 assists and a team-best four aces on Oct. 11. Her efforts against Missouri State earned her CUSA's Freshman of the Week honors.
Kayla Williams continued to lead the Jax State offensive attack against Missouri State with 45 kills on 5.00 kills per set across the two matches. Williams also tallied nine digs and a block assist.
Amaya Tolentino had the next most kills with 24, while
Sanni Rantanen added 22 kills.
Defensively against the Bears,
Luci Wilkinson had a team-best 45 digs on 5.00 digs per set.
Morgan Blazzard and
Madison Konopka had 17 digs on 1.89 digs per set. Tolentino had a team-best nine total blocks, while Rantanen followed with six.
Solomon currently leads CUSA with 652 total assists and ranks third in the league averaging 9.18 assists per set. Williams is first in CUSA with 294 total kills and 4.14 kills per set. Wilkinson is first in the league with 324 total digs and an average of 4.56 digs per set.

Scouting Kennesaw State: The Kennesaw State Owls sit at 10-6 overall with a 4-2 conference record. The Owls are coming off a weekend in Lynchburg, Va., where they split a pair of matches against Liberty. On Oct. 10, Liberty defeated Kennesaw 3-1. On Oct. 11, Kennesaw earned a 3-2 win over the Flames. The Owls are currently in a tie for third place in the conference. They were picked to finish fourth in the league in the preseason poll. The Owls are led by Manu Johnsen who was on the All-CUSA Preseason Team. Johnsen is second in the league with 242 total and an average of 4.10. Kennesaw holds an 8-3 all-time record over Jax State. The Gamecocks won the first match 3-0 on Aug. 31, 2010. Kennesaw won the most recent match 3-2 on Oct. 9, 2024.
