DALLAS—Jax State linebacker
Mac Sanders was named Conference USA's Freshman of the Week on Monday for his performance in his team's 38-25 win over Delaware.
Sanders registered a team-high 10 tackles in the game which included 1.5 for loss. With 10:37 left in the second quarter, Sanders forced a fumble which was recovered by
Caleb Nix and returned 45 yards for a touchdown to give the hosts a 14-0 lead.
The Jax State defense limited Delaware to just 34 rushing yards in the contest.
Sanders becomes the first Freshman of the Week in program history. After seven games, Sanders is the co-leader on the team in tackles with 38, has three for loss, two pass breakups, and a forced fumble.
The Gamecocks will return to action on October 29
th at Middle Tennessee.
