Gamecocks Welcome Chanticleers to The Pete on Friday

JACKSONVILLE – The Jax State Men's Basketball team welcomes Coastal Carolina to The Pete on Friday, Nov. 14 for a non-conference showdown. Jax State and Coastal Carolina also faced off last season in Conway, S.C.

White Out the Chants
The Gamecocks and Chanticleers faced off last season, with Jax State taking home a 71-53 road win in Conway. Jax State outscored Coastal 38-21 in the first half last season.
  
Rooster Rematch
Jax State opened up the 2025-26 campaign with a spark rallying for 117 points against Oakwood.  Jax State's 117 points is the most since the Gamecocks managed 123 against Carver College in the 2021-22 season.
 
Stacking Up Points
Through two games, Jax State ranks first in all of NCAA Division I Men's Basketball in points per game, with 115.5. The Gamecocks have managed totals of 117 and 114 so far this year and also have the highest scoring margin at an average of a 64.5 points per game.
 
Home Sweet Home
Across the last seven seasons, Jacksonville State boasts a record of 58-26 in The Pete. The Gamecocks have specifically dominated the non-con ranks, turning in a total record of 25-5 record in non-conference home games since the 2019-20 season.
 
El Moutauakkil Named Preseason All-Conference
Jax State forward Mostapha El Moutaouakkil was named one of 10 members of the CUSA Preseason All-Conference Team, the first Gamecock to earn preseason all-conference honors since Darian Adams in 2021. El Moutaouakkil, a Louisiana transfer from Rabat, Morocco, appeared in 33 games for the Ragin' Cajuns last season and led the squad in scoring.
 
The Road to Recovery
Marcus Fitzgerald Jr. and Jamar Franklin both tallied double figures in the season opener against Oakwood after missing time with injuries last season. Fitzgerald went 605 days without a made basket while Franklin rose for a dunk, marking his first points in 303 days.
 
Double Double Debut
Senior guard Mostapha El Moutaouakkil turned in an impressive debut, managing 27 points and 10 rebounds in the season opener against Oakwood. El Moutaouakkil became the first Gamecock with 25+ points and 10+ rebounds since the reigning CUSA Player of the Year Jaron Pierre Jr. last season against Columbia Int'l.
