DALLAS—Jax State running back
Cam Cook continues to make history this season for the Gamecocks.
The junior was named one of 10 semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award which annually honors the nation's most outstanding collegiate running back. He is the first semifinalist for the award in program history.
Cook is the Football Bowl Subdivision's second-leading rusher with 1,306 yards and 13 touchdowns in 10 games. The Round Rock, Texas native has rushed for at least 100 yards and a touchdown in every Conference USA game this season. He has also caught 22 passes for 186 yards, making him the FBS leader in all-purpose yards at 151.22 per game.
He is the only FBS player this season with at least 1,300 rushing yards and 20 receptions. Seven times this season, Cook has rushed for 100 yards and has a reception which is the most by any FBS player this year.
Named for the 1948 Heisman Trophy Winner, the Doak Walker Award is presented by the PwC SMU Athletic Forum. The winner will be announced on December 12
th during ESPN's The Home Depot College Football Awards.
