JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State women's tennis welcomes Eastern Kentucky to the Jax State Tennis Courts Friday for their 2025 home opener. First-serve for the match is set for 1 p.m.
The Gamecocks lost their first match of the season at Samford 4-3 in a tight match on Friday, Jan. 24. Jax State was able to down Presbyterian in a dominating 6-1 match in Birmingham the following day. Jax State sits at 1-1, while the Colonels are currently 4-5.
Against the Bulldogs,
Ella Tuomela and
Anna Syrova won 7-5 and
Irene Artigas and
Aneka Patel won a tight 7-6 doubles match to clinch the doubles point.
Polina Ramenskaja brought home a singles win thanks to a three-set victory by scores of 6-3, 4-6, and 6-3.
Lea Erenda clinched the final singles point against Samford after Sara Erenda withdrew in the third set.
Ramenskaja and Erenda won the first doubles match against Presbyterian in a 6-2 win before Patel and Artigas clinched the point thanks to a 6-4 win. Syrova got the first win in singles against Presbyterian in a straight-set match by scores of 6-0 and 6-3. Artigas then won in three-sets with scores of 6-1, 4-6, and 6-4 for the second singles victory.
Zuzana Pavelekova brought home a straight-set win with scores of 6-4 and 7-5.
Ramenskaja continued her solid week against Presbyterian with a straight victory with scores of 7-5 and 6-3. Patel clinched the win for the Gamecocks in a three-set match.
Following the match against EKU, the Gamecocks travel to Alabama A&M on Saturday.
