Men's Tennis to Play at Georgia State Wednesday Afternoon

ATLANTA, GA. – Jacksonville State men's tennis picks up play at Georgia State Wednesday at 12 p.m. in Atlanta. The match against the Panthers will be the first match the Gamecocks have participated in since March 22 when they defeated Presbyterian on the road 4-0.
 
The Gamecocks are 9-6 and currently ride a three-match win streak with wins over Wallace State-Hanceville, Furman, and Presbyterian. Meanwhile, Georgia State sits at 5-10 with their most recent match at home against VCU resulting in a 4-2 loss.
 
The match Wednesday will mark the third time the two programs have met. Jax State won the most recent match 4-3 in Atlanta back on March 27, 2024. The Panthers took the first ever meeting 4-3 on April 11, 2021.
 
Jax State has a 47-30 singles record this season. David Krasner leads the way with his 9-3 mark on the year. Other top performers include Matei Palcau at 8-3, Marko Milosavljevic at 7-4, Charlie Penman at 6-5, Timo De Visser at 6-6, Alin Fatu at 5-4, Aman Dahiya at 4-3, and Zach Murphy at 2-2. The Gamecocks are 23-13 in doubles action. Murphy and Lucius Soller have been impressive this season as a doubles team boasting a 10-2 record. De Visser and Logan Haga trail at 6-3, Milosavljevic and Krasner are 4-4, and De Visser and Penman are 3-1. No other combination of doubles partners has a winning record thus far.
 
For Georgia State, they are led by Edward Tymes at 12-7 in singles. Diogo Morais is 10-11, Baran Soyler is 9-9, Naufal Kamaruzzaman is 8-9, and Maxwell Weir is 8-11. Gabriele Datei is 4-17 and Michael Nicholls is winless at 0-2. Two doubles teams have five wins for the Panthers. Datei and Weir are 5-4 and Soyler and Tymes are 5-3. Soyler and Datei are 4-7, Morais and Kamaruzzaman are 4-5, Morais and Tymes are 4-3, Weir and Kamaruzzaman are 3-7, and Morais and Datei are 1-2. No other doubles combinations have gotten a win this season for the Panthers.
 
After the match at Georgia State, men's tennis returns home to face Kennessaw State on Friday, April 11, in a 1 p.m. first-serve. Ahead of the match against the Owls, Jax State's seniors will be recognized for Senior Day.
