A pair of Gamecocks were 1-2 on the individual leaderboard to help the Jax State men's golf team take third at the Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge.

The Gamecocks posted team scores of 276, 281, and 292 to finish three strokes behind UConn for second and eight back of St. John's which took top honors.

Ryley Heath took medalist honors by two shots over
Ben Shedd to pace the Red and White.

Heath led wire-to-wire after opening with a 64, tying for the fourth-lowest round in program history on the 6,970-yard, Par 72 True Blue Golf Club course. He shot 68 in the second round, highlighted by an eagle on the 548-yard Par-5 ninth erasing bogeys on the two prior holes. The senior closed his week with a one-under 71, answering three bogeys with four birdies.

Heath led the field in Par 4 scoring at 3.71 and Par 5 scoring at 4.47. His 17 birdies led the field.

Shedd was the runner-up with a 54-hole total of -11 with rounds of 66, 67, and 72. The freshman was bogey-free in Monday's first round. After bogeying his second hole on Tuesday, Shedd came back with back-to-back birdies, then posted an eagle on nine. Wednesday's round started with a double-bogey, but Shedd was able to respond with birdies on the fourth and ninth.

Gabriel Restrepo tied for 59
th with a six-over total of 222, posting 74 in all three rounds.
Ricardo Matho was a shot back tied for 64
th with rounds of 75, 73, and 75.
Santiago Bailleres tied for 70
th with a total of 225 (72-73-80).

Devin Speight played as an individual and tied for 78
th with a total of 228 (73-78-77).

The Gamecocks will play in the Irish Creek Intercollegiate on April 7
th before heading to the Conference USA Championship.
