The Jax State men's golf team looks to carry momentum from a third-place showing at the Golfweek Spring Challenge into its final meet of the regular season which starts on Monday in North Carolina.
The Gamecocks will be one of 15 teams in the field at the Irish Creek Collegiate hosted by Appalachian State at the Club at Irish Creek in Kannapolis.
Last week, the team took third at the Golfweek Spring Challenge and had the top two individual finishers in the field in medalist
Ryley Heath and runner-up
Ben Shedd. Heath's 104 birdies leads the team and Shedd's six eagles lead the roster.
As a team, the Gamecocks have seen their team overall scoring average drop 10 strokes this spring down to a 288.2 thanks to the strong showing last week as well as at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate. Success on Par 5's has been a key part of that with 487 par or better scores on those holes and just 86 bogey or worse numbers.
Irish Creek is a Davis Love III Signature Golf Course which ranks among North Carolina's top courses.
