JACKSONVILLE—The 2025-26 men's golf season starts Sunday morning in Choudrant, La. as the Gamecocks participate in the Argent Financial Classic at Squire Creek.
This is the eighth time Jax State will participate in the event's 22-year history. In 2010, the Gamecocks were third in the field and twice they've posted four-under as a team.
Four players return from last year's team in Graduate Student Ryley Heath, fifth-year senior Ricardo Matho, redshirt sophomore Richie Reck, and sophomore Ben Shedd. Heath posted a 70.4 average with a team-best 101 birdies on the year. Shedd played in all 10 tournaments as a true freshman with a 74.24 average and 83 birdies.
Matho and Reck played in four tournaments each last season with Reck posting a 73 average and Matho a 75.44.
Among the newcomers are Stanley Campbell, who was the medalist at the NJCAA Division II Championship for Mississippi Gulf Coast and was a finalist for the Gary Player Award. Cole Lindeman joins the team from Wallace State where he was ranked 25th nationally with five top three finishes and a pair of wins.
Three freshman also join the team in Karel Marik, Tyler Neidel, and Will Drake. Drake was the AHSAA 6A runner-up for Cullman HS last season.
Play starts for Jax State on Sunday at 12:50 p.m. with Drake on the tee first. The Gamecocks will be joined in each group by players from Memphis and WKU. Matho, Marik, Campbell, and Heath round out the lineup for the 54-hole tournament over three days.
