KENNESAW, Ga. – Jax State women's basketball travels to Kennesaw State Saturday for their third straight road conference contest. The Gamecocks are coming off a 63-47 loss at Missouri State on Jan. 10.

Last Time Out
The Gamecocks fell 63-47 at Missouri State on Jan. 10. Brooklyn McDaniel led the Gamecocks with 16 points. Mya Barnes scored the next most with 13 points and tied Maria Sanchez Ponce with a team-high eight rebounds. Adriana Jones scored 10 points to round out all Gamecocks in double-digits. Jax State shot 16-of-54 from the field and 2-of-17 from three.
 
McDaniel's Contributions
McDaniel has stepped up this season averaging 9.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game in an average of 24.3 minutes per contest. McDaniel, who played only 10 games as a junior last season, has appeared in all 16 games this season, including starting in 10. McDaniel scored a career-best 16 points against FIU, then matched it at Missouri State.

Mya Barnes ranks tied for fifth in CUSA with an average of 1.0 blocks per game. Barnes is tied for fifth in the conference averaging 2.1 made threes per game, is tied for 8th in the league with an average of 8.1 rebounds per game and is 20th in CUSA averaging 11.1 points. Kyera Thornsbury ranks 1st in CUSA with a 3.5 assist to turnover ratio. Thornsbury's assist-to-turnover ratio is 5th in the NCAA.
 
Barnes' Double-Doubles
Barnes leads Jax State with four double-doubles this season, including an 11-point, 13 rebound performance at FIU. She had back-to-back double-doubles against Mercer and Brewton-Parker earlier this season. Barnes was the first Gamecock to record back-to-back double-doubles since Kennedy Gavin in the 2021-22 season.
 
Stepping Up In Conference
Jax State has plenty of players upping their game in league action thus far. McDaniel has leads Jax State averaging 14.5 points per game, Barnes averages 13.0 points and a team-best 9.5 rebounds per game. Adriana Jones averages 12.5 points per game. Makala Hobdy leads the team averaging 2.5 assists per game in conference play.
 
Balanced Attack
Against Florida International, Jax State had four players score in double-digits. McDaniel scored 16, Jones scored 14, Barnes scored 11, and Hobdy scored 10. Eden Sample and Sanchez-Ponce both added eight points, respectively. Jax State shot 42.9% from the floor and 46.2% from three against the FIU on Jan. 8. 
 
Series History
Jax State and Kennesaw State have a long history of facing one another. The two programs will play for the 27^th time on Saturday. The Gamecocks hold a narrow 14-12 all-time record over the Owls. Kennesaw won the most recent matchup in VyStar Arena on March 8, 2025, by a score of 63-55.
