JACKSONVILLE — The 14th-ranked Jax State rifle squad returns home to take on the 19th-ranked UAB Blazers on Saturday, January 24. The shoulder-to-shoulder is slated to begin at 9 a.m. from the Gamecock Rifle Range.
The match was scheduled in response to the postponement of the Withrow Invitational at Murray State due to the severe winter weather in the area. Both Jax State and UAB were slated to take part in the invitational.

Frans Rasmusson became the third player in NCAA history to shoot a 600 with 59 center shots in air rifle since the NCAA began tracking center shots. He joins Kentucky's Sofia Ceccarello and Braden Peiser, who both shot 600-59x during the 2024-25 season.
Rasmusson is Jax State's leading performer across the board, with an aggregate average of 1182.375, an air rifle average of 595.875, and a smallbore average of 586.5. His air rifle average is 17th nationally and his aggregate average is good for 19th nationally.
Jax State shot its second-highest aggregate score of the season last week against The Citadel, putting up a 4704 aggregate score. Jax State's highest of the season came on November 2, 2025, when the team shot 4706 at Murray State.
UAB enters the contest with eight victories to five losses on the year, most recently taking part in a tri-meet with The Citadel and Wofford in Spartanburg, S.C. Jax State and UAB met during Jax State's Gamecock Invitational to close out the fall semester, with Jax State sweeping the event and putting up an aggregate of 4680 to UAB's 4639.
UAB's leading performer is Piper Wentland, who has a team-high aggregate average of 1166.83. She also leads the squad with an air rifle average of 590.5. Holly Visconti leads the team in smallbore average with 582.4.
Jax State will hit the road next weekend to take on second-ranked Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska.
