ROME, Ga. – Jax State's men's tennis team handled Berry College in a 7-0 win on Tuesday in the Gamecocks first contest of the season. The match between the Gamecocks and Berry was an exhibition for the Red-and-White.
In the match, the Gamecocks took the doubles point before dominating singles play.
Alin Fatu and
Matei Palcau took care of Berry's Anderson Lambert and Bryce Lepine 6-0 on doubles court three. On court one,
Lucius Soller and
Zach Murphy downed Aiden Benoualid and Jake Chapman 6-1.
With the doubles point clinched thanks to court one and three's results,
Timo De Visser and
Aman Dahiya beat Xavier Deckard and Jace Good 6-3.
Dahiya played in the number one slot in singles against Chapman. Dahiya took the match thanks to a 6-2 first set and a 6-1 second set. De Visser and Goode squared off on court two where De Visser earned a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Murphy won a convincing match over Leo Nedkov on court three in a 6-1, 6-0 triumph.
Fatu continued the winning momentum for the Gamecocks on court four with a 6-0, 6-1 final over Lambert. Palcau saw action on court five where he put away Deckard 6-0, 6-1. On court six, Soller wrapped things up with a 6-1, 6-2 straight-set victory over Benoualid.
The Gamecocks will face Mississippi College on Thursday at the Jax State Tennis Courts in the team's home opener. The match is set for a 12 p.m. start time.
