JACKSONVILLE – Jax State's men's team is set to take on Mississippi College Thursday starting at 12 p.m. The match is the first match of the year hosted by the Gamecocks at the Jax State Tennis Courts.
The Gamecocks are coming off a dominate 7-0 win at Berry College on Tuesday. The Gamecocks took the doubles point thanks to
Alin Fatu and
Matei Palcau winning 6-0 and
Zach Murphy and
Lucius Soller winning 6-1.
Timo De Visser and
Aman Dahiya wrapped doubles play up with a 6-3 win against Berry.
In singles, the Gamecocks completed a clean sweep starting with Dahiya winning 6-2, 6-1 on court one. De Visser then won 6-0, 6-2 on court two, while Murphy earned a 6-1, 6-0 straight-set win on court three.
Fatu, Palcau, and Soller all won in straight sets in their matches. Fatu won 6-0, 6-1 on court four, Palcau won 6-0, 6-1 on court five, and Soller won 6-1, 6-2 on court six, respectively.
Following Thursday's match at home, the Gamecocks take on Lee University on Saturday, Feb. 7. The start time for the match is still to be determined.
