JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State women's tennis, fresh off a 7-0 win at Berry College, hosts Mississippi College Thursday at 12 p.m. in the team's home opener.
In the match at Berry on Tuesday,
Irene Artigas and
Isabella Sambola highlighted doubles with a 6-0 blanking of Berry's Sydney Coppola and Charlee Eidson. The doubles team of
Sae Kaneko and
Angeles Rodriguez-Rizo and of
Aneka Patel and
Polina Ramenskaja both earned 6-1 wins.
Ramenskaja then won 6-1, 6-0 in singles on court one. Artigas took a pair of 6-1 wins in the first and second set of her match on court two. Rodriguez-Rizo won 6-0 in the first of her match before clinching with a 6-1 triumph in set two on court three.
Sambola played on court four against Berry where she won 6-2, 6-0. On court five, Patel downed Eidson 6-1, 6-0. Kaneko rounded out the win on court six with a pair of 6-0 wins in straight sets.
Jax State will play at Georgia Tech on Sunday in a match scheduled for a 3 p.m. Central, 4 p.m. Eastern start.
