JACKSONVILLE - The 14th-ranked Jax State rifle squad heads up to the Cornhusker State to take on the second-ranked Nebraska Huskers on Saturday, January 31, and Sunday, February 1. Matches on both days are slated to begin at 8 a.m.
Last time out, Jax State knocked-off 19th-ranked UAB at the Gamecock Rifle Range. The match was scheduled in response to the postponement of the Withrow Invitational at Murray State due to the severe winter weather in the area. Both Jax State and UAB were slated to take part in the invitational, but found a solution and took on each other instead.
Frans Rasmusson led all performers with the highest aggregate and air rifle aggregate in the match. Rasmusson posted a 1180 aggregate with 82 center shots, with a 597 with 51 centers in the air rifle portion of the match.
Nebraska is 15-1 so far this season, winning the previous two matches over top-ranked Kentucky and ninth-ranked Alaska-Fairbanks coming into the meeting. Kentucky took the first match from the Huskers in their meeting to give Nebraska its only loss of the season thus far.
NU leads the nation in average aggregate with 4739.4. Jax State places 14th in the same metric with an average aggregate of 4689.222.
Nebraska is led by Emma Rhode, who currently holds the highest smallbore and air rifle averages on the team at 591.778 and 597.444, respectively. This gives her the highest team aggregate of 1189.222.
Rasmusson leads the Gamecocks in all three categories as well, posting the highest smallbore average (586.111), air rifle average (596), and aggregate average (1182.111).
Both days are set to begin at 8 a.m. central time.
