Women's Tennis Looks To Rebound Against Alabama A&M

JACKSONVILLE – Jax State women's tennis looks to rebound against Alabama A&M Wednesday at the Jax State Tennis Courts. The match against Alabama A&M is set for an 11 a.m. first-serve.
The Gamecocks (3-3) are coming off a pair of losses against North Alabama on Feb. 10 and Samford on Feb. 13. Jax State fell 4-1 against UNA and 4-3 against Samford.
Against the Lions, the Gamecocks took the doubles point thanks to a 6-2 win by Polina Ramenskaja and Emma Montagner on court one and a 6-4 win by Angeles Rodriguez-Rizo and Sae Kaneko on court three.
In the match against Samford, Ramenskaja earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over Lea Erenda on singles court one. Aneka Patel then downed Laila Fishman in three sets on court four. Fishman won the first set 6-1, before Patel responded with a 6-1 second set triumph. In the third, Patel won 7-5. Isabella Sambola was the other victor against Samford as she beat Hailey Troup in three sets on court five.
Sambola won the first set in tie breakers by a score of 7-6 (7-4), but Troup answered with a 6-4 second set win. In the decisive third set, Sambola came out victorious with a 6-3 win.
In singles this season, Jax State has an 18-13 record. Ramenskaja leads the way with a 4-1 mark, Irene Artigas is 3-1, Sambola is 3-3, Kaneko is 3-2, and Patel is 2-1. Montagner is 1-0, Rodriguez-Rizo is 2-4, and Alba Roche is 0-1, respectively.
Meanwhile, Jax State is 10-6 in doubles action. Artigas and Sambola have a 3-1 record, Rodriguez-Rizo and Kaneko are 4-2, Patel and Ramenskaja are 2-2, Montagner and Ramenskaja are 1-0, and Roche and Ramenskaja are 0-1.
Following the match against Alabama A&M, women's tennis heads to Troy on Thursday, Feb. 26.
