Men's Tennis Edges Out Lee At Home

JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State men's tennis improved to 3-0 with a 4-3 triumph over Lee University at the Jax State Tennis Courts Saturday.
Lee University took the doubles point with wins on courts one and two to take an early 1-0 lead. Although the Gamecocks dropped the doubles point, on court three, Alin Fatu and Charlie Penman were able to capture a 6-1 win over Lee's Quinn Groenendijk and Jip Langerhuizen.
With the match tied at 3-3, the match came down to Timo De Visser versus Langerhuizen singles court four. Langerhuizen won the first set 6-4 over De Visser, but the sophomore from the Netherlands earned a 7-6 win in the second set to tie the match at one set win apiece. In the decisive third set, De Visser came out victorious 6-4 to clinch the match for the Gamecocks.
On singles court three, Aman Dahiya won in straight-sets over Stefan Mos. Dahiya won the first set 6-3, before taking the second set 6-4. Fatu dominated on court five winning both the first and second sets 6-0.
Penman fell to Filipe Krohn on court one by scores of 6-4 and 7-6 in his match. Groenendijk downed Jax State's David Krasner 6-2, 6-2 on court two, and Matei Palcau lost 6-4, 6-2 to Francisco Guimaraes on court six.
The Gamecocks are back in action on the road Sunday at Mercer in a match that starts at 10 a.m. central.
